The old sanitation ways have failed. With our UN approved circular model, we’ve transformed Ivory Park Primary School through sustainable water and sanitation solutions. Bridging the WASH-Food-Energy nexus, transforming potential into sustainable possibility.

Halalala WASH Hub! Halalala!

The infrastructure consists of a containerized WASH Hub and 12 dry toilets designed for sustainable waste separation. Key technical interventions include the repair of onsite boreholes to restore water supply and the construction of perimeter walls to define and secure school boundaries.

Circular economic operations feature a waste processing centre that converts sanitation by-products into bio-products for use in school food gardens. To ensure long-term sustainability, the project incorporates capacity building through O&M training and structured hygiene education for students, staff, and the surrounding community.

The WASH infrastructure project at Ivory Park Primary School in MidRand, JHB, stands out as our greatest success of 2025. This initiative now provides 2,638 learners and 100 teachers and staff with reliable access to water, as well as a new containerised WASH Hub featuring 12 safe, hygienic toilets and handwashing facilities. With the addition of a new, innovative Dignity Hub (toilet & shower) along with a Dignity Room (for girls on their periods) and a mini laundry - this is a First in a school to have such support for female learners. The project is fully embedded within a circular economy model, demonstrating a sustainable and scalable approach to community development. This model creates value from human waste, supports food gardens that supplement the school feeding scheme, and enables localised training in monitoring & evaluation and long-term sustainability. It represents a clear pathway forward for resilient, community-driven infrastructure solutions. We extend our sincere thanks to Infrastructure News for joining us at the project launch and for featuring the initiative in a four-page article in the December issue. This project would not have been possible without the commitment and support of our valued partners: Amalooloo DisChem, Inc. Grundfos Foundation | PDJF KSB Company Infinite Industries Connect with us if you'd like to know more about this project and/or if your organization would like to join us on projects in 2026. #OutOfTheBlueMovement #OOTBM #WASH #Schools #Water #Sanitation #CircularEconomy #Communities #Hygiene #Safety
