Our UN-approved Out the Blue Programs is proud to announce South Africa’s first Dignity Square — a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for young menstruating girls through a climate-resilient Dignity Hub and Dignity Room. By integrating circularity, we are opening doors for a new generation of female-led micro-opportunities. Creating safe water and dignified WASH.

Her body is changing. Her potential shouldn't.
We are building more than infrastructure; our new Dignity Hub, Dignity Room, and nourishing food garden generate a circular economy through a waste processing centre creating bio-products as well as unique micro-businesses, like our hand-operated washing and drying systems.
By providing expert O&M training and health and hygiene services, we are empowering our school staff and community members to lead this transformation.
Girls can miss up to a quarter of their schooling due to menstruation-related barriers, including lack of access to clean, private sanitation facilities, menstrual products, and supportive environments. Each month, many are forced to stay home during their periods, falling behind academically and facing increased risk of dropping out altogether. Providing safe, hygienic toilets with privacy, dedicated support spaces, and access to sanitary products can dramatically improve attendance and confidence. As highlighted by the World Bank, investing in girls’ education is one of the highest-return opportunities in the developing world—driving not only individual empowerment, but healthier communities and stronger economies for generations to come.
